Panaji: Aam Admi party leaders on Wednesday held protest march against Goa government’s action of withdrawing its scheme of providing free potable water.
The protest was held during Wednesday which is observed as Goa Revolution Day.
AAP leaders walked from their office to the BJP office in Panaji city, who were stopped on the way. A strong presence of police was maintained in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
Talking to reporters, AAP Goa President Amit Palekar said that the State government has withdrawn its scheme of providing 16,000 units of potable water free of cost every month.
Palekar said that the chief minister Pramod Sawant alleged that there is theft of water by the consumers because of which the scheme stands withdrawn.
The AAP leader said that the scheme was costing only Rs six crore annually to the state government. “The government has crores of rupees to spend on the events. When Sawant led government was sworn in in the year 2022, Rs six crore was spent only on 18-minute-long function,” Palekar said.
AAP MLA Cruz Silva said that it is time for the people of Goa to start a new revolution against the state government.
He said that the people of Goa will have to take a pledge to throw out BJP led government during the next election.
Benaulim AAP MLA Venzy Viegas said that the fight of the people is against the bad governance of the Dr Pramod Sawant led government.
He said that the revolution against the bad governance starts from today onwards.
