Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party while condemning the callous attitude of Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant asked him to immediately release the payment due to handicapped persons registered with the government under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme.

AAP convenor Rahul Mhambre pointed out that the 12,000 persons with disability registered under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme with the government have not been paid the dole they were due to for the last four months and said this is not only disgraceful but also cruel to the affected persons.

He pointed out that dole under DSSS is given to the poorest of poor as it is given only to those persons whose monthly income is less than Rs. 2000 and not paying such persons their dole for four months is cruelty he said pointing out that they are paid only Rs. 2000 per month under the scheme.
“Besides their daily expenditure people with disabilities have medicines to purchase and also to pay for their physiotherapy and not getting their dole for four months has caused a lot of hardships to these challenged persons,” said Rahul.

He also pointed out that the lofty claim made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May this year that an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 1000 will be made to all persons with disability but till date the same has not fructified.

“That the BJP government in Goa is made up of liars is an established fact but now it is becoming evident that it is also a very cruel government that does not even spare differently challenged persons,” he said.
