Panaji: The people across the State except in few places had sleepless night due to the power outage. The group of citizens from St Andre constituency even gheroed power department officials at Sub Station at Kadamba Plateau.
The power cut which began at 6 a.m. on Sunday continued till wee hours of Monday. Certain parts of the city were given power supply for few minutes and then again it was shut down.
Situation turned tensed at Kadamba Sub Station at Old Goa Plateau when group of St Andre citizens led by legislator Francis Silveira questioned the power department official.
One of the officer at sub station said that the work of shifting the electricity tower which was scheduled to get over at 6 p.m. was delayed.
The irked citizens later went to the spot where the work on installation of tower was going on where they questioned Executive Engineer and another officer.
The group continued camping there till wee hours. The attempts were made to contact Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar but of no use. Several hundred (repeat hundred) calls made to his mobile number by irked citizens fetched no response. Some of the people even went to his house but he refused to entertain.
