Panaji: Goa on Sunday announced its Primary health Centre facility at Shiroda in South Goa as covid care centre as the number of coronavirus cases spiked since last Wednesday.
State Health Secretary Nila Mohanan said that on Sunday 33 new cases of COVID-19 patients were detected.
Out of 33 new cases, more than 50 per cent are from Mangor Hill area of Vasco town, which has already been declared as containment zone.
She said that as per Union Ministry of Health Affairs (MHA) guidelines, a COVID-19 care facility has been opened at Primary Health Centre, Shiroda where asymptomatic patients would be admitted, Mohanan said.
She said that only symptomatic patients would be admitted in ESI Hospital at Margao.
Shiroda is a 60 bedded facility which can be expanded further depending on need, she said adding that more covid care facilities can also be opened in the state depending on the number of patients.
Mohanan said that the restaurants will be opening from June 08 but they will have to abide by social distancing guidelines. Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration will be issuing guidelines to the restaurants, she said.
