27 people lost their lives in road accident in April, says Transport department

Panaji: Total 27 people, including six pedestrians and one cyclist, lost their lives in road accident in the month of April.

The Directorate of Transport has compiled their monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and the total Challans that were issued last month.

As per the report there were 284 road accidents of which 24 were Fatal Accidents (North Goa – 6 and South Goa – 18), 17 were Grievous Accidents (North Goa – 6 and South Goa – 11), 71 were accidents of Minor nature  (North Goa – 18 and South Goa – 53) and 173 Non – Injury Accidents (North Goa – 114 and South Goa – 59).

The total number of persons who lost their lives in road accidents were 27 (North Goa – 6 and South Goa – 21). This included 11 riders, one driver,  6 Pedestrian, 7 Passenger, one cyclist, and  1 other lost their lives.

16 people were Grievously Injured (North – 6 and South – 10) while 71 persons suffered Minor Injuries (North – 18, South – 53).

A total 4726 Challans were issued by Transport authorities for various violations of traffic rules.
