Panaji: Goa government has shifted 130 COVID-19 patients to Super Speciality Block of Goa Medical College and Hospital, which was commissioned last week.
State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inspected the new facility which has a capacity of 150 beds with oxygen and 150 in Intensive Care Unit.
Sawant said that 130 patients were shifted to the Super Speciality Block on Sunday, while on Monday, 25 patients would be shifted to the ICU.
He said that the commissioning of the super speciality block will decrease the pressure on GMCH where several wards are converted into COVID-19 facilities.
The chief minister appealed people to get themselves admitted to the hospitals as soon as they get COVID-19 symptoms.
“There are several patients who get admitted to the hospital at the last minute. The doctors are not magicians that they can turn around the health after lungs are damaged completely,” he said.
