Panaji: Hours after announcing the dates for opening of new Zuari Bridge on December 26, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the event was postponed to December 29 due to unavailability of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Sawant told reporters on Thursday evening in Panaji that the Zuari Bridge would be inaugurated by Gadkari on December 29 at 6 pm. The chief minister earlier in the morning had announced that the Bridge would be inaugurated by Gadkari on December 26.
“Since Gadkari is not available for the function, we have decided to postpone the inauguration to December 29,” he said adding that the Bridge would be government’s new year gift to the people of the state.
The Bridge located on the National Highway is an important link between North and South Goa Districts.
