Porvorim: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has continued with his supremacy over Porvorim Assembly constituency with both the candidates fielded by him for the Zilla Panchayat polls scoring lead in all the wards.
While candidate fielded by him for Penha de Franca ZP seat, Kavita Gupesh Naik won with 1687 margin over the rival candidate fielded by the joint venture of BJP and Congress, another candidate backed by him Vaishali Satardekar scored lead in Succoro panchayat, which is with the BJP.
Naik got lead of 2,000 votes in Penha de Franca and Salvador do Mundo Panchayat defeating the rivals, who were powered by joint venture of BJP and Congress.
As far as Succoro ZP seat is concerned, Satardekar could not win despite clear lead in Succoro Panchayat area. This ZP constituency comprises of area like Parra, Guirim and Saligao besides Succoro. Of the total 31 wards of this ZP constituency, only 11 are in Succoro while rest 20 are outside Porvorim Assembly constituency spread over Saligao segment.
Reacting to the results, Khaunte has thanked the voters for reposing faith in him through this Zilla Panchayat polls and making clear cut statement that Porvorim Assembly Constituency will keep away unholy alliance between BJP and Congress.
He said that the lead in Succoro Panchayat indicates that the voters have given their mandate against the illegalities by local rulers, who are nurtured by BJP and its leaders.
Khaunte said that his determination to work for the voters of this constituency has been strengthened further with the ZP results, which has shown that the constituency has stood by him.
He said that the work done by Porvorim Rising and like-minded people during Covid-19 pandemic has been vouched by voters, who did not fall prey to the divisive politics of BJP and backboneless leaders of Congress who have surrendered to the rival party.
