Panaji: BJP MLA and State Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Thursday said that following call of Janata Curfew by Prime Minister, the scheduled March 22 Zilla Panchayat elections in Goa are likely to be postponed.
State chief minister Pramod Sawant is yet to make the statement on the issue.
Lobo who is holding Ports portfolio in Sawant led cabinet tweeted “In view of #JantaCurfew announced by Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi ji #GoaZPElectins to be held on 22nd March are likely to be postponed.”
All the 50 Zilla panchayats in the state are scheduled to go for elections on March 22.
BJP, Congress, MGP and AAP have fielded their candidates in this election which was scheduled to be held on party lines.
