Panaji: Even as a contempt petition is been filed in the High Court over the series of extensions granted for registration under Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), the State government has decided to grant further three months extension from July 1.
The last date for filing online applications for the ongoing real estate projects registrations under RERA was till March 23 and it was extended upto March 31 with penalty of Rs 50,000.
The Department of Urban Development has further hiked the penalty from April 1 to April 30 and further from May 1 to July 1.
“We have now decided to grant further three month extension. The fine for non-compliance has been raised from Rs one lakh to Rs two lakhs,” Minister for Urban Development Francis D’Souza said.
Social Activists Kashinath Shetye has moved Court against the series of extensions.
