Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that Governor Satya Pal Malik raised concerns over the wrong information circulated by social and mainstream media over COVID-19 outbreak in the state.
Sawant met Governor along with STate Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Health Secretary Neela Mohanan this morning to brief him about the steps taken to curb COVID-19 pandemic.
Emerging from the meeting, Sawant told reporters that Governor was concerned about the wrong information being projected through social media and also mainstream media about COVID-19 outbreak.
“Governor asked Health Secretary why she is not briefing the media on weekly basis. She told Governor that she has been doing it and despite that the wrong information is coming out,” the chief minister said.
When questioned, Sawant said that the media is not to be blamed, but the opposition parties and leaders have been giving wrong information which is carried through media.
“If opposition is giving wrong information what can you do?,” he questioned back media.
Goa will be observing three day long lockdown in the state on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after the number of cases sky rocketed in last few days.
