Woman Alleges Assault and Molestation at Verna; Four Booked

Verna: Verna Police have registered a case in connection with an assault and molestation incident reported at Upasnagar, Sancoale. The complaint was lodged by a 24-year-old woman, a resident of Birla, Sancoale.

According to the police, the incident occurred on 29th December around 6:45 pm, when the complainant, her husband, and her sister-in-law were allegedly wrongfully restrained while returning home. The accused reportedly abused them using filthy language and physically assaulted the complainant’s husband.

The complaint states that when the woman intervened, one of the accused allegedly touched her chest with intent to outrage her modesty. Her sister-in-law was also pushed to the ground and assaulted with sandals and fists.

It is further alleged that one of the accused brandished a knife and threatened the victims before fleeing the spot along with others on scooters.

Verna Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and further investigation is underway.
