Panaji: AAP has wondered why no action has been taken so far on the allegation by Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude against his own cabinet colleague PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar.
This is what AAP Goa General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar has said in a press note released here:
It may be recalled that Mr. Gaude called Mr. Dhavalikar “corrupt” and “inefficient”, while calling for his resignation. Mr. Gaude backed up his allegation of corruption by citing the practice of PWD contractors being required to meet the PWD minister to obtain work orders despite winning the tender as per process.
This is a serious allegation made by a a person of the stature of a cabinet minister who is in the know of internal matters. Interestingly, Mr. Dhavalikar on his part has not refuted the allegations on record. Why has the otherwise garrulous CM Mr. Manohar Parrikar not commented on this matter yet? Any Chief Minister worth his salt should have filed an FIR in the matter by now. The CM’s silence is an open confirmation of the corruption and inefficiency in Goa’s governance which is anyway an open secret. AAP demands an immediate FIR in the matter, as the PWD minister handles a budget running into hundreds of crores of public money.
The constant spats within the BJP-led coalition are becoming more of a rule than an exception, as seen from the previous spat between the Mapusa MLA Mr. Francis Dsouza and Calangute MLA Mr. Michael Lobo, as well as Mr. Vijai Sardessai’s forays into BJP territory such as Mayem constituency. These internecine wars are creating chaos in the life of the common man, as the Government is unable to handle even the simplest of tasks such as handling monsoon flooding, or supplying electricity & water, let alone reducing crime & corruption or improving healthcare & education. This behaviour only proves AAP’s previous assertion that there is no control over the elected representatives in Goa, and the Govt is being run by remote control from Delhi. Goa is descending into complete anarchy, with the common man facing the brunt of the Government’s abject failure.
