When Manohar Parrikar was stopped from entering IFFI venue

Panaji: As we are getting ready to celebrate 20th year of IFFI in Goa, Goa News Hub revisited the year 2004 when entire team Goa paced against the time to make this event successful.

 In our brand new episode of “Headlines that changed the face of Goa”, we bring to you the time when central government offered to host IFFI to Goa but the conditions were not favourable.

It was under the leadership of then CM Manohar Parrikar that the event was made possible, infrastructure was built within a record period.

We met some of those who worked shoulder-to-shoulder with late Parrikar during the year 2004. They narrated anecdotes after anecdotes of how the festival which was looking impossible was made possible.

Siddharth Kunkolienkar, former Panaji MLA, narrated how Parrikar was stopped by CRPF from entering the venue of IFFI when he went there in a private car, without ID card in his neck.

Senior journalist Waman Prabhu has narrated how Parrikar worked over time and took the briefing after every ten hours to ensure that the infrastructure is in time.

Then chief executive officer of ESG Sanjith Rodrigues also revealed some of the untold facts of the first IFFI.
