Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday termed visit of national leaders from various national parties as “political tourism.”

Sawant welcomed more national party leaders to visit Goa so that the taxi and hotel businesses, which are affected with the COVID-19 would get some business.

The chief minister was reacting to the visit of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the state.

“This is political tourism. During next 4 months, the taxi and hotel businesses, which had suffered due to covid would get good business with such kind of tourism,” the chief minister said.

He said that he welcomes them and “want that national  parties should come to Goa and there should be growth in their business.”

Referring to the Gandhi pillion riding a two-wheeler taxi during his Goa visit on Saturday, Sawant said “I felt good that he pillion riding a two wheeler taxi. That must be his first time that he has done it. We have been travelling on two wheeler taxi and rickshaws.”

He said that he has been meeting fishermen every day when he goes to the market. “I have been meeting fishermen every day. When I go to market, I get to meet them and listen to their grievances,” he said.
