Panaji: In an exclusive interview with Goa News Hub’s HubEncounter, RGP Chief Manoj Parab said that they were not depressed but “100 percent hurt” looking at the results of Lok Sabha elections.

RGP had fielded its candidates in both the Parliamentary constituencies with Parab contesting from North Goa against BJP’s Shripad Naik and Congress’ Ramakant Khalap.
Speaking to GNH Editor-in-Chief Rupesh Samant, Parab said that the cadres were hurt because people did not vote for them despite sacrificing personal lives and finances to fight for the cause of Goa.

Parab said that it is then that he decided to take a break and review the strategy of the party after consulting some political experts, academicians and wise-people.
“I used to meet people in different constituencies, without even informing the cadres,” he said.

Parab said that the RGP fought the last election with mere Rs 17 lakh of which Rs 12 lakh were paid to various newspapers to release advertisements revealing the criminal cases pending against the candidates. This is mandatory as per Election Commission of India guidelines.

The RGP chief said that the wrong propaganda is being carried that RGP gets huge funding from the UK. “If I had to get such funding, then we would not have been struggling for finances. I would have been sitting over Rs 1.5-2 crore now,” he said.
