Ponda: MGP has said that they are not opposed to converting existing ID hospital into Covid hospital but state government should tell what are they going to do with the non-covid patients and other facilities.
MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar and Ketan Bhatikar on Sunday met the authorities at ID hospital, hours after CM announced that it would be converted into second covid hospital after Margao’s ESI facility.
In a statement issued here, Bhatikar said the party is not opposing opposing* any Covid hospital. “We have always supported the fight against Covid and we will continue the same,” he said.
But, Bhatikar sought explanation from government on various points. “ What facilities would the govt provide for those who come to I’d hospital for surgeries ?
What about those who come for their cataract ? What about accidents which are taking place ?”
He also asked “What about the child care ? What about adult emergency ? What about orthopaedic , neuro emergencies ?”
He said that when there are not even one CT scan and MRI machines in Ponda , when there is not a single hospital in and around Ponda which can take care of downtrodden and poor , what type of autocratic behaviour and step motherly treatment to ponda people is this ?
“Who is going to take responsibility of all the patients already admitted in the hospital who are told to get discharged ? What about the risk of infection ?
No we are not against Covid hospital , we are humans too and we expect all facilities to Ponda patients first and then all other stuff.”
Bhatikar said that when there is already one hospital in South who is stopping hospital in north ?
“A normal flu , cold , an accident case or any means any emergencies will have to go from ponda to GMC ? How many ambulances will govt provide to people in Ponda ?,” he said.
The MGP has said that they are fine with Covid testing. “We have supported all patients to be shifted to farmagudi and we people from ponda have big heart to stand by every single Covid patient.”
“But this does not mean we will me made a scape goat and just thrown away. We stand by our own under any means any circumstances.”
