Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief Vijai Sardesai on Friday slammed State BJP led government for defending Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), alleging that the legislation has “disturbed” the peace of the Country.
Talking to reporters, Sardesai said that State government is busy trying to defend a legislation, which is neither compassionate and is very much discriminating.
“It is a legislation which has disturbed peace of the country,” MLA said.
“On Christmas, whole of India is burning and here our government is spending time to defend this legislation,” Sardesai commented.
“BJP should focus on conducting rallies on Mahadeyi river issue rather than having rallies to support the legislation which has no compassion and which shows discrimination,” Sardesai said referring to upcoming public awareness rally on January 3, to be addressed by BJP national working president J P Nadda.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that CAA will not have any impact on Goan citizens.
