Panaji: Two days after Congress accused a “Non-Goan businessman” of harassing former minister Francisco Monte Cruz, the company has denied the allegations.

The company has said that they are rightful owner of the said factory for whom they have entered into a lease agreement.

“We (Viiking Beverages Pvt. Ltd. – VBPL) have entered in lease agreement with Impala Distillery & Brewery Ltd (IDBL) since 2012 which is valid and subsisting,” Nikash Ahuja, Director, Viking Ventures Private Limited, has said in a statement issued here.

“Hence we are rightfully and lawfully in possession of the factory. Mr. Vijay Montecruz was appointed as our contractor to manufacture our Goa Kings beer and our other brands of alcohol,” he added.

“We have provided him the required fees as billed and as and when demanded by him. We have also advanced him money at regular intervals. When we asked him to share details on utilization of this money, he has created this farce, to hide that he has misused our money,” the statement adds.

“Due to all these we have taken normal legal recourse and have not involved any politician or created any pressure,” Ahuja said.

“There are proper legal recourses which he can take but since Mr. Montecruz has failed in establishing his side legally, he is using media to divert the issue,” he alleged.

He said that viiking Beverages want to continue doing business as per legal terms and create and continue to add value to the local economy and employment and take brand to the global level.
