Panaji: Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar will address Vibrant Goa’s inaugural ‘Knowledge Series’ lectures in Panaji on Thursday, August 8. The Knowledge Series will see noted experts address the youth, common public and industry fraternity of Goa on various important topics in the run-up to the Vibrant Goa-Global Expo and Summit 2019 (VG-GES 2019) to be held in Goa between October 17-19 this year. This lecture series will incorporate the salient features of the ‘Vision 2035’ document prepared by the special committee headed by Dr Mashelkar during Goa’s golden jubilee year in 2011.
The eminent scientist, who is also chairman, board of advisors, Vibrant Goa Foundation will speak on the topic of ‘Exponential Technology and Future of Jobs’ at the special programme organised at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) on Thursday morning. Eminent speakers like Prof Sunil Kumar Singh, director NIO, Shrinivas Dempo, chairman, Dempo Group of Companies and Prof Varun Sahni, vice chancellor, Goa University will also address the gathering during the event.
Deeply connected with the innovation movement in India, Dr Mashelkar is presently the chairman of India’s National Innovation Foundation and has pioneered and spread the message of ‘Gandhian Engineering’, ‘More from Less for More people’ and ‘Affordable Excellence’. He has been tirelessly propagating a culture of innovation and balanced intellectual property rights regime in India for over a decade.
