Vasco: The union ministry has sanctioned the proposal to increase the height of Railway Bridge at Tanya Hotel in Vasco.
Local MLA Daji (Krishna) Salkar said that the project has been approved within three months of putting up the proposal.
He said that due to less height of the bridge, the Fire Brigade or Ambulances could not pass through. Several times, during the disasters, we could not get the help because of the height of the bridge, he said.
Salkar has thanked Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and also Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant for sanctioning the project.
“ This is a benefit out of the double engine government. Within three months, we had put up the letter and approval is granted,” the MLA said.
He termed the project as “gift to Vasco residents from the centre.”
The bridge which was 3.2 metres in height would be increased to 4 metres allowing all types of vehicles to pass through.
