Mapusa:The Chicalim Ground in Colvale became a theater of high-intensity sportsmanship on March 14, 2026, as United Brothers marched to a resounding victory in the Mapusa Advocates’ Hard-Ball Cricket Tournament. Organized by the Mapusa legal fraternity, the event brought together six elite local teams who battled through a rigorous league stage and high-stakes semi-finals before arriving at the much-anticipated title clash. In a masterclass of tactical execution, United Brothers won the toss and elected to field, a decision that paid dividends as they suffocated The Risers’ batting lineup, restricting them to a modest 24 runs within their five-over quota. The highlight of the innings was a historic bowling spell by Dattaraj Gauns, who dismantled the opposition by claiming four wickets in a single over, an achievement that rightfully earned him the Man of the Match title. The chase was a mere formality for United Brothers, who clinically reached the target in just 2.3 overs to hoist the championship trophy amidst roaring support, with the winning runs in the final deservedly coming from the bat of the team mentor, Adv. Vinayak (Mama) Porob. This triumph was steered by the vision of team owner Adv. Pankaj Dabholkar and the invaluable dual contribution of Adv. Vinayak (Mama) Porob, who not only sealed the victory on the pitch but also provided seasoned mentorship to the squad throughout the campaign. Individual brilliance was celebrated across the board, with Dattaraj Parab (alias Sai) being crowned Man of the Series, while Shubham Gadekar, Raghu Parab, and Pritesh Shetty were honored for their exceptional skills as the tournament’s best batsman, bowler, and fielder, respectively.
