Panaji: In a twist to the political development, two of the Congress MLAs who were amongst the group of five who had reportedly rebelled pledged their loyalty to the party.
Former chief minister and Congress MLA Digambar Kamat and his colleague Rajesh Faldesai said that they are with the party and were not in the party office on Sunday due to their personal commitments.
Party’s Goa desk incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao had accused Kamat and Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo of conspiring against the party after hobnobbing with BJP.
Talking to reporters outside the Assembly complex, Kamat said that he was very much with the party but was “hurt.”
“I had met Dinesh Gundu Rao on Saturday. I told him that I am hurt because of the humiliations that I faced in the party,” the former chief minister said adding that the rumours of he joining BJP has always been floating since 2017.
“I stayed with the Congress party. I led the party from the front during election but after polls I was not given post of leader of opposition,” Kamat said.
He said that he is very much in Congress and could not attend the press conference in Congress House in Panaji on Sunday because of the personal commitments.
Another MLA Rajesh Faldesai said that he has been with the party and he had informed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar about his absence. Faldesai said that due to personal reasons he was at home.
Faldesai said that the rumours were being spread that he had met chief minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday.
