Tourism dept extends deadline to pay shack licence fee to November 25

Panaji: Tourism Department has extended deadline for the payment of the shack licence fees to November 25 from November 17 adhering to the demand of the shack owners.

 

Tourim minister Rohan Khaunte said that the Environment department had recommended 364 shacks on various beaches before the new shack policy came in. there was delay in getting the beach capacity.

 

“The season already started . It is important that the shacks should be in place before the season starts. Tourists have also started coming down. Shacks should come up early,” he said.

 

Khaunte said that out of 364 shacks, roughly 353 shacks allotted. “November 17 was deadline to make the payment. There has been request coming from the traditional shack owners to extend the deadline. The demarcation has been completed,” he said.

 

“I want to convey that time for payment has been extended up to November 25, Saturday. They can pay by that time. All of them should make the payment. We have ensured that this issue is cleared so that smooth sail can happen. they can take maximum benefit of the season,” Khaunte said.

 

He said that the provisional NOCs are already been given so that they can erect the shacks.
