Panaji: The Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) leader Derek O’Brien on Thursday admitted the party had committed mistakes during the Goa Legislative Assembly elections including not building the organization in the state.
Talking to reporters, O’Brien said that not building the organization and going for hoardings were the mistakes of the party.
“Have we made mistake in building our organization? Of course we have. We never claimed that we know everything,” he said.
The Rajya Sabha MP said “we have made mistakes but the best part of TMC is that we learn from our mistakes. We have this much of humility to admit it.”
O’Brien said that the TMC had done the mistake during Goa election. “All those hoardings were our mistakes. So we are building the organization and we are building from the grass root,” he said.
In an indirect reference to the shifting of eight Congress MLAs to BJP, O’Brien said during the campaigning TMC had said that a vote for Goa TMC is a vote for Goa TMC, a vote for Congress is vote for Goa BJP, vote for Goa BJP is a vote for Goa Congress. “We had told you same thing in September 2021 and we are telling you in September 2022.”
He said that the party had appealed the people to vote for them as they are here to serve the people of Goa.
“We had said in September 2021 that trust TMC as we are here to serve Goa for the years to come,” O’Brien said.
He stated that that is what we are repeating now. “That is our credibility that we can say the same thing in September 2022,” O’Brien said.
