Three-Day-Long Goa Budget Session To Start From Today

Porvorim: The three-day-long Budget Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly will begin on March 4 (Monday) and will also discuss the motion to thank Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai for his address to the House during the last session.

The session will begin at 11:30 AM on Monday, during which Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is scheduled to introduce The Goa Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The state has opened its doors to private universities through this Bill.

State Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserratte will introduce The Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2025, which is expected to regulate employment in the private sector.

After the Question Hour and Zero Hour in the morning, the House will discuss the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address to the House. The Governor had addressed the House during the Assembly session in February 2025.

A senior official from the State Legislature Department said that a total of 728 questions have been raised by MLAs for discussion during the three-day session, including starred and unstarred questions.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the Finance Portfolio, will table the Annual State Budget on March 6, the last day of the session. The Budget will be passed during the next session of the House, the official added.
