Panaji: Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Thursday said that the youngsters are the “luckiest generation in Indian history” considering the opportunities that are created by Modi-led government.
Chandrashekhar was addressing an event held to start skilling under PM Vishwakarma Yojana in the coastal state in presence of chief minister Pramod Sawant.
“I am associated with the progress of the country technologically for last 30-35 years. I must say you are the luckiest generation in India’s history considering the opportunities that are generated under Modi-led government,” the minister said.
He said that in the year 2014, India was the five most fragile economy. “In the year 2014, 42 crore was the size of our workforce of which 31 crore was without skilling or education,” Chandrashekhar said.
The minister said that three out of four person in the workforce was without skilling or education. “In the last nine and half years of Modi-led government, India has become five of the topmost economies of the world. In the years to come, we will be third largest economy in the world,” Chandrashekhar said.
He said that it is a dream of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi that our youth will drive the economy of the country through the opportunities that are created for them.
Chandrashekhar said that on lines with the schemes like har ghar jal, gas cylinder in every household, health insurance to all, there should also be skilling in every home.
“The skilling is more important than degree in this changing times of workforce landscape,” he said.
Chandrashekhar said that these are exciting times in our country’s history. “Our economy is expanding and there are various opportunities that are created but to take the benefit of these opportunities, you should have the skill,” he added.
