Panaji: As patience runs out among political parties due to delays from Congress, the fate of the proposed Grand Opposition Alliance will be decided today, Thursday.

The Revolutionary Goans Party is likely to hold a press conference during the day where the decision on the alliance is expected to be announced. Meanwhile, the Pradesh Election Committee of Congress is meeting on Thursday to finalise the second list.

Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai had stated that they will announce their second list of candidates on the day of Datt Jayanti, which is today.

The alliance, proposed on the eve of Diwali, appears to be weakening as the Congress party is not showing much interest in it.

Insider sources revealed that Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar has been a dampener in the efforts to forge an anti-BJP alliance.

Speaking to reporters recently, GFP chief Sardesai said that he had met RGP only once, and after that, there were no further discussions on the alliance.

Except for the meeting held on Diwali eve at the residence of Sardesai, no formal meeting has taken place regarding the formation of the alliance.

The media has often been informed by Patkar that discussions are happening over the phone.
