Exhorting the Government to read Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia’s book ‘ Shiksha’ to understand how to build trust with teachers in Goa, Aam Aadmi Party said that unless teachers get the respect that they deserve, education will continue to suffer to the detriment of the student community in the state. AAP, Convenor Elvis Gomes in a video address accused the government of harassing teachers by engaging them in odd jobs that had no relation with their line of duty. “This lockdown period has not been good for teachers. First a survey of households was forced upon them. That was followed by supervision of distribution of wheat and rice through fair price shops. As if government was not satisfied, teachers were forced to attend schools without presence of students despite central government’s SOPs to the contrary. Now an avoidable salary issue has been raked up” said Gomes citing the results of 12th standard examination in Delhi which he claimed was a ‘stunning’ 98%. He said such record breaking result was possible only because the Delhi government had successfully won the trust of the teachers and valued their contributions.
