Shiroda: For those who have been smitten by Jitendra-Jayaprada duo’s `Taki, re taki, re taki taki taki re,’ it would be a nostalgia when they follow events for Shiroda by-election.

Here there are talks about ‘taki’, means water tank, being distributed by MGP candidate Deepak Dhavalikar. And this ‘taki’ is not Jitendra-Jayaprada dancing with white shoes on and spotless saree amidst riot of colours.

The opposition has accused Junior Dhavalikar of distributing ‘Takis’ in the run up for Shiroda by-polls. The MGP President had made his mind clear that he would be contesting Shiroda by-election, which strained relationship between BJP and MGP.

The result was evident when Deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavalikar was dropped from cabinet.

Now back to ‘taki.’ Several parts in this constituency are suffering from lack of potable water. The water supply to these areas is erratic.

Ironically, Junior Dhavalikar, whose elder brother has been one of the longest serving PWD minister, responsible to provide water, has been accused of distributing ‘takis.’

The water tanks have been considered as one of the best bait to attract voters in this constituency. Dhavalikar has flatly denied that he ever distributed any tanks.

So when nationally it is chaukidar versus chaukidar chor hai, at Shiroda, it is ‘taki, re taki, re taki taki taki re….’
