Panaji: Goa tourism minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday suspected that there are systematic attempts to defame Goa through social media influencers.
Khaunte also clarified that the Sunburn EDM festival which had asked permission to host their event till December 31 at Vagator, has been asked to curtail it by December 30.
Talking to reporters after unfurling the National Flag on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day at Mapusa,
“The social media influencers are trying to defame Goa through their videos. This looks like a strategy and systematic attempts by some elements,” the minister said, referring to some of the content on the social media.
He said that the state government is working on taking steps against such influencers who come to the state only to defame it.
While appealing the stakeholders including media and people to work for the development of tourism sector, Khaunte said that everyone will have to work together.
He also said that the Sunburn EDM festival has been granted permission from December 28 till December 30. Khaunte said that they have not been given permission on December 31.
