Bori-Goa – March 28, 2026: Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Bori-Ponda, celebrated the achievements and artistic talents of its students with great enthusiasm at their Annual Social Gathering and Prize Distribution ceremony, held on the evening of March 28 at the college campus.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Mahendra Khandeparkar, Director of Lift Control Pvt. Ltd., and Panch of Shirshire, Mr. Devendra Gaude. The ceremony began with a warm welcome extended by the college management, led by President Prakash Prabhu.
A key highlight of the evening was the vibrant cultural programme, which this year was themed around the rich traditions of Goan folk dances. Students captivated the audience with spectacular performances, including the energetic Goff dance, the rhythmic Katti dance, the celebratory Shigmo dance, and the graceful Kalsi dance. The atmosphere was further enhanced by soulful songs performed by students, with traditional Shigmo drums setting the rhythm, showcasing the deep cultural roots and artistic prowess of the youth.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Mahendra Khandeparkar lauded the students for their excellent performances and urged them to aim high. He said, “You should prepare yourselves so well that you become job creators, not job seekers,” inspiring the young audience to focus on skill development and entrepreneurship. The college newsletter “Knowledge Hive,” Volume 2, was released on the occasion.
Principal Prof. Achut P. Pednekar proudly presented the annual report, highlighting the college’s academic achievements, co-curricular activities, and the holistic progress of the institution over the past year. The event also recognized outstanding students for their academic excellence and contributions, with prizes distributed by the dignitaries.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by General Secretary Mr. Rudresh Bhat, leaving the college community inspired by the blend of cultural pride and forward-looking vision celebrated at the event.
