Siolim: Prashant Vaigankar, a close aide of Uday Palekar has filed a complaint against self-proclaimed chief of NGO Swabhimani Siolkars Satish Tamhankar, who is also a government servant working with Electricity Department.
Vaigankar has alleged that Tamhankar was involved in extorting money from different businessmen in Siolim under the guise of the NGO Swabhimani Siolkars.
The formal complaint is filed with Anjuna Police by Vaigankar, who is resident of Savarwada, Oxel, Siolim.
“The illegal activities are being carried out by one Satish Tamhankar, who is a government servant and is working as the linesman/assistant linesman resident of Bhati Oxel, Siolim,” the complaint states.
“The said culprit is involved in extorting money. everyday he roams in Siolim Bazaar and collects extortion money from the locals involved in various businesses illegally and threatening them with dire consequences if they don’t give,” Vaigankar said.
“On November 18, at 11.30 a.m., he called me on my personal mobile and told that he belongs to group named Swabhimani Shivolkar and he demanded for Rs 2,000 per day from me. He says that this money is being taken to distribute to all the members of his group,” he said.
“He came to my house and forcibly took Rs 5,000 from me and is now demanding Rs 2,000 per day. He said that the Swabhimani Shiolkars wants this money and everyday amongst them is involved in this and that they are doing the collection from everybody,” the complaint mentions.
“He claims himself to be the founder member of this group. He is repeatedly calling me for collectionof the money and is threatening me that if money is not paid to him, I should be ready for the consequences,” the police complaint states.
“It is requested that he may be immediately arrested for committing criminal offences such as threatening, extortion, and disturbing peace in the area,” he said.
The complaint has also said that the accused is seen consuming liquor at the Bar during his duty hours. He should be suspended from the services.
