Panaji: MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar’s connections with controversial Sanatan Sanstha may be a major stoppage for his run towards the chief ministerial post.

Dhavalikar in the past had openly confessed his association with the Hindu Right Wing organization, which has been caught in recent controversies over killing of rationalists.

BJP rung has been abuzz with the discussions about elevating Sudin Dhavalikar to the post of the chief minister. Even when Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was admitted in a private hospital at Candolim, his name was being tossed in BJP circle as his successor.

But Sudin is facing issues as he might fit the tag of Hindutva but does not go well with the changing image of BJP in the State.

Though none of the Catholic MLAs in the State are publicly admitting their unhappiness to have leader with the tag of Sanatan Sanstha sympathizer, but in private they claim that Sudin is unfit to rule the State.

Sudin has in the past admitted that his wife is a sadhak of that Sanstha. “We are basically from priest background. Our family is associated just to have good work with them,” he had told in the past when Sanstha was under scanner.

Besides Sudin, wife of Deepak Dhavalikar is also associated with Sanatan Sanstha.

BJP is already struggling to make its base in Catholic dominated areas. The fears are raised that Christian population will support Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Under this circumstances, going for polls with Sudin as its chief minister, would be suicidal for the BJP which is already losing its ground in the State.
