Panaji: Even as the hunger strike called by RTI Activist Rajan Ghate entered tenth day on Sunday, there was no sign of State government budging.
Except for a circular by District Collector Lavinson Martins asking the authorities to shift Ghate to Goa Medical College and Hospital, which was issued on Friday, the State government has not taken cognizance of his fast unto death.
Several NGOs, social activists and opposition parties including Congress have extended their support to Ghate, who is demanding for the resignation of CM Manohar Parrikar, owing to his ill-health.
After the public meeting today, several other activists have started chain hunger strike with Ghate which includes Ana Gracious, Tara Kerkar, Shilpa Kerkar, Santosh Manjrekar, Anusay Kambli, Ashley Noronha, Madhu Gaonkar, Soccoro Menezes and Aishwarya Salgaoncar.
