Panaji: Goa police, along with central agencies, have maintained strict vigilance at Old Goa during the Exposition of the Holy Relics of Saint Francis Xavier, scheduled to start tomorrow.
SP North Akshat Kaushal said that policemen would be deployed at different venues in three shifts. Arrangements like water towers and sand bunkers are in place to tackle any eventuality.
To assist the public, signages have been installed to inform people about parking and other amenities.
He stated that the police are working closely with the Church authorities. “The Church has communicated to us that around 1,000 volunteers have been put in place to coordinate with the agencies,” he said.
At the venue, there will be door frame metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors, and other gadgets required to check the pilgrims and tourists.
Police have also issued an advisory for the pilgrims, which we have mentioned in another news article on our website. Do check that news as well.
