Panaji: Taking the governance to grass-root level, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the policymakers would be asked to visit each panchayats to draft the policies of the state government.
Sawant said that the team of policy makers would be visiting all the 192 village panchayats and 13 municipalities from October 02 onwards to design appropriate policies for the development of the State.
He also said that the state government departments and various colleges will adopt the villages to ensure that the grass root development happens in real terms.
The chief minister was addressing state level Independence Day function after unfurling flag at Old Secretariate building in Panaji.
Sawant said that the departments like Directorate of Higher Education, Department of Technical Education and others have prepared a basic report suggesting various steps to make the village panchayats and municipalities self sufficient.
The chief minister also announced that Citizen Service Centres would be commissioned in all the panchayats providing all the government facilities at the doorstep of the people. “We want to ensure that the people don’t have to travel to the offices of the government departments once Citizen Service Centres are commissioned at grass root level,” he said adding that all the government schemes would be linked with the centre.
Speaking about COVID-19 issue, the chief minister admitted that the pandemic situation has affected the economic condition of the country as well as the state.
“We are working to salvage the state from the economic crisis that we are facing. The bodies like Economic Revival Committee is formed for the same,” he added.
