Panaji: State Government is now considering filing of intervention application in Supreme Court pleading to allow mining operations to continue till 2020.

After failure to file a review petition, State is now banking upon an intervention application to ensure mining activities resume in the State.

Speaking to media persons today, BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral said that State will file intervention application before Supreme Court pleading to modify its order dated February 7.

“We will try to convince the Supreme Court to modify its order and allow mining operations till 2020 at least,” he said.

Cabral said that the Prime Minister Office is also positive towards State’s request.

Mining activities in the State are placed under suspension since March 16, after Supreme Court quashed and set aside the second renewals granted to 88 iron ore leases.
