Speedy Disposal important for overall development: Pillai

Panaji: Speedy disposal of applications in the Government Departments is an important aspect not just for the growth of the industry but for the overall development of the country, said Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai.

 

Governor today visited temple, industries, church and Ancestral village in his day-long visit to Verna and Loutulim accompanied by his wife Smt Reeta S. Pillai.

The Governor said speedy disposal of any application is justice and added justice is not only to be provided by the court but by the people dealing in different subjects. Industrial development is a mandatory aspect of taking our country on the path of development. Politicians should educate the mass on this, he added.

 

Speaking further, he said till date 350 patients have been benefited with the financial aid distribution from the discretionary fund of the Raj Bhavan. People are supreme and every public representative is bound to work for the welfare of the people. Goa State is a special gift by God to the country. On visiting the villages in Goa, I have observed that villages are more beautiful than the cities. Goan people are good at heart, he said.

 

Government is working to make Goa self-reliant. Though Raj Bhavan is not a power centre, the Governor said and assured that the grievances and issues of the industrial sector will be resolved. He urged the captains of industries to offer their opinions and suggestions on the draft industry policy of the State.

 

As compared to other States of the country Goa is on the first place in the index of per capita income. Try to also obtain happiness index he urged. For the development of the society, politics should not be hindrance. Unity is required keeping aside all other differences he remarked.

 

Governor visited the Commscope industry situated in Verna Industrial Estate. Commscope builds communication network around the world. Managing Director and Vice President, Shri Antonio Rego welcomed on companies behalf.

 

The Governor also visited Cipla company. Site head, Shri Sanjay Mishra and Shri Pankaj Shitole welcomed on behalf of the Companies.

 

Chairman, Goa Industries Development Corporation, Shri Alexio Reginald Lourenco said, IDC will be industry friendly and as the Chairman of IDC he will give justice to every industry. New draft industry policy will provide the much required support to industries, he added.

 

MLA, Shri Alexio Sequiera stating that Verna Industrial Estate is the No. 1 industrial Estate of the State urged industries to employ local youths of the surrounding areas of the estate. He also assured his cooperation to the industries.

 

District Collector, South, Smt Jyoti Kumari, IAS; Secretary to Governor, Shri Mihir Vardhan; Director, Industries Trade and Commerce, Smt Shwetika Sachan, IAS; Managing Director, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Shri Venancio Furtado; President, Verna Industrial Estate Industries Association, Shri Pradip Da Costa and Assistant Director, World Trade Centre, Shri Cyril D’Souza were present on the occasion.

 

Director, Industries and CEO, Goa Investment Promotion Board, Smt Shwetika Sachan made a presentation on industrial scenario in the State through IPB perspective. Managing Director, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Shri Venancio Furtado made a presentation on Industrial Estates in Goa.

 

Representatives of Industries, Shri Blaze Costabir, Shri Sandip Prabhu, Shri Shashindra Nair, Shri Cyril D’souza, Shri Pradip Da Costa also spoke on the occasion.

 

Governor presented financial aid to 8 dialysis patients.

 

Shri Pankaj Shitole proposed a vote of thanks.

 

Governor visited Mahalasa Narayani Temple at Verna in the morning and took blessings of the goddess Mahalasa Narayani and other gods situated in the complex. He was welcomed by the President, Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple and Chairman, Mahalasa Narayani Charitable Trust, Shri Kamlaksh Nayak; Vice Chairman, Shri Devidas Saraf; Managing Trustee, Shri Prashant Deshpande; Vice President, Shri Ashish Prabhudessai; Secretary, Shri Suhas Vernekar, Committee members, Shri Ajit Vernekar, Shri Rajesh Bandodkar. Governor also visited Holy Cross Church, Verna and offered prayers and took blessings. Parish Priest Fr Diago Fernandes welcomed. Students of Marina English High School, Verna presented prayer dance. Later he visited Ancestral Goa theme Park and Bigfoot Museum, Loutolim a museum dedicated to rural goa life and interacted with curator Shri Maendra Alvares.
