Bicholim : A post-Covid recovery clinic was inaugurated by the honourable speaker of assembly Shri Rajesh Patnekar for treating such patients, who have recovered from the coronavirus infection but are suffering from the mid and long term persistent effects of the infection.
The launch ceremony was also attended by Dr Medha Salkar, Health officer CHC Bicholim; Vice President of Bicholim Muncipaliti Mr Kundan Falari; Sarpanch of Adwalpal village Shri Narayan Salgoankar; Dr Shekhar Salkar; Dr Pushpraj Amonkar, Dr Krupali Tendolkar, medical officer CHC, Dr Siddhi and other staff of CHC Bicholim.
Several studies indicate that the disease impacts almost all the vital organs in the body apart from acute events like stroke and myocardial infarction, chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension are part of the post-Covid syndrome. Many Covid patients have been suffering from problems like breathlessness, chest pain, heart issues, joint pains, vision problems and memory loss months after contracting the novel coronavirus.
Shri Rajesh in his inaugural address congratulated Dr Medha and her staff for exemplary efforts despite the prevalence of COVID 19 infection. He also thanked Dept of Health for starting post COVID 19 clinic for the people of Bicholim and surrounding area.
Dr Medha stressed the need for testing and urged people to visit the post COVID clinic if any symptoms of difficulties in breathing, body ache and stress persist after the mandatory 17 days of isolation period. She also said they would also have weekly sessions of experts like pulmonologist, cardiologist, opththamologist and psychologists, who will address the health queries of the community.
The event came to an end with the vote of thanks from Dr Pushparaj.
