The Aam Aadmi Party went on the offensive after Benaulim Mla Churchill Alemao made allegations on Party Chief Elvis Gomes about ‘ghotalas’ in the GFA during the tenure of Gomes as the President which the party said were imaginary to deflect attention from real issues. Aap General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that the party has always supported all Sportspersons in terms of it’s national policy for upliftment of sports and what Elvis had said regarding equity in distribution of grants to sportspersons was perfectly in line with such policy, adding that the Delhi Government gives annual grant of upto 4 lakhs per year to promising sportspersons besides specialised assistance such as training and help in medical and insurance matters. Padgaonkar said that while Elvis has already released a video making his stand clear, the party wanted the speaker of the house to force Alemao to use the time of the house to debate on status of real scams in which he was accused of direct involvement and not try to hide by speaking about GFA matters in the house without any proof. Padgaonkar said that as the current GFA President since the last 9 months, Alemao had failed to point out any financial bunglings during the tenure of Gomes and had even chaired the AGM held last Sunday in which audited accounts were approved. “Don’t think people are fools to believe what you say. Speak about Louis Berger bribery scam, water tanks distribution scam which the BJP had accused you of. As GFA President, you should feed smaller clubs rather than first feeding your own family club using tax payers money.” Said Pradeep who himself is known as the founder member of the Saligao based ‘Adarsh Yuvak’ Football Club.
Aap has also called upon the Speaker as well as CM to disallow references to persons not in the house without any proof against such persons as it goes contrary to established principles of natural justice.

  1. Churchill must talk about garbage, sewage, bad roads, electricity etc than just Helmet exemption for Church goers etc. Accidents and unfortunate deaths dont discriminate between ordinary rider and church goers. If only one’s head is safe, his family is safe. Only then the family as a whole can go to church to pray. Stop misleading people on petty issues and focus on important things.
