Panaji: The rumours were rife since Saturday morning over the transfer of Superintendent of Police (North) Chandana Chaudhury after the matka raids that has shook many in the State.
Chaudhury has broken a major syndicate of gambling in Pernem taluka which was being run right under the nose of local Police Inspector Sandesh Chodankar.
While the news made front page appearance today, the rumour mill and the Whatsapp worriers were busy spreading news about her transfer from the post of SP North and she being replaced by Umesh Gaonkar.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jaspal Singh ruled out any transfer and said that the SP had done a good job, which needs to be congratulated.
