SOP changed, now you can opt for home quarantine

Panaji:  Goa government on Tuesday changed its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the people entering the State giving them option to remain home quarantine without testing themselves for COVID-19 for 14 days.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant after prolonged discussion with his ministers, party MLAs and opposition members announced the changed SOP, which has given exemption from being tested for COVID-19, provided a person prefers to remain home quarantine for 14 days.

The chief minister also said that those who prefer to get tested at the border will have to stay in paid institutional quarantine facility till their results are out.

Sawant said that the new SOP will come into force from June 10 onwards. He said that those who are asked to remain home quarantine would be kept under observation by local panchayat members of municipal councilors.

State government has already declared Mangor Hill in Vasco town as a containment zone after spate of cases were reported from there.

The chief minister said that out of 300 plus cases, except 25 patients, rest were from Mangor Hill. He said that only 19 patients need treatment while rest are asymptomatic.
