Panaji: Goa government on Friday said that they are contemplating the possibility of a tie up with the private player to have round the clock automated monitoring of the roads.

State Public Works Department Minister Nilesh Cabral told reporters in Panaji that Goa government wants to hand over this project to a private party on Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis.

He said that the state government wants to go for round the clock automated monitoring of the roads to check on the instances of overspeeding, overtaking at wrong places and others.

Cabral was responding to the questions on recent accident on Zuari Bridge in which four people had died after their SUV plunged in the river.

The minister said that policemen cannot man the road round the clock, due to which there is requirement of automated monitoring systems.

He said that he has already spoken to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and State Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte over the proposal to invite private parties to install automated road monitoring system.

Cabral said that vehicle drivers should exercise self-restrain and drive within the speed limit.
