Panaji: One of the accused Edwin Nunes, who was arrested in connection with Sonali Phogat alleged murder case, has told the court that he do not own the controversial Curlies Restaurant.
Advocate Kamalakant Poulekar, representing Nunes, told the court on Sunday that he is not the owner of Curlies Restaurant.
The Restaurant is located on Anjuna beach where the deceased along with two accused were seen partying hours before her death.
The court had granted five days police custody to Nunes along with two drug peddlers Dattaprasad Gaonkar and Ramakant Mandrekar.
Nunes and Gaonkar were arrested by Anjuna Police on Saturday.
Poulekar said that Nunes is not the owner of Curlies Restaurant and it is for the prosecution to prove who owns the place.
He said that there are no papers to claim that he has ownership rights of the place.
The lawyer said that the Court rejected the bail application filed by Nunes on Sunday as the prosecution said that the offences booked against them are under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and matter has to be dealt by relevant court.
Poulekar said that they will be moving fresh application before NDPS designated court seeking bail for the accused.
