Sixth patient who tested positive had arrived from a ship

Panaji: The sixth patient who was tested positive in Goa for COVID-19 infection on Friday was a seafarer, chief minister Pramod Sawant said.

Sawant told reporters that the sixth patient had arrived from a ship and had quarantined himself before getting admitted to goa medical college and hospital.

He said that all the five people who were in contact with the patient have also been quarantined and their samples are sent for testing.

Sawant said that the positive patient had not come in contact with many people.

Meanwhile, state government has decided to take help of counselors to speak to the migrants who are sheltered in the camps.

He said that some of the migrants who are settled in the camp want to move out but they are not allowed due to current lockdown.

“We have asked counselors to speak to them and convince about the situation,” he said. Sawant said that the state government has also decided to give hygiene kit including toothbrush and paste to these migrants.
