Panaji: In their first ever arrest, the Special Investigation Team formed to investigate into illegal land grabbing has arrested one person for fraudulently transferring 6-70 properties in North Goa.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch/SIT) Nidhin Visan told reporters that the SIT has taken up the investigation of two cases of land grabbing.
“After interrogation SIT, found the involvement of accused person namely Vikrant Shetty in the said crime, and accordingly he was placed under arrest on Saturday,” he said.
Visan said that the SIT, land grabbing has further interrogated Vikrant Shetty in illegal Land transferred/Land grabbing case. “During investigation it was revealed that about 60-70 properties in North Goa District has been transferred in the name of prospective buyers by way of forged documents,” he added.
Visan said that Shetty was produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mapusa and remanded to five days Police Custody. Further investigation is in progress.
