He stated that Madgaonkars are amused to notice neighboring Constituencies announcing additional vaccination centers while Margao continues with a single center at the Urban Health center premises at Margao.
“We are equally amused to notice that apart from the single demand from the Fatorda MLA to set up a vaccination center at the *farthest corner of the Constituency*, there are absolutely no suggestions/demands forthcoming from our representatives, for additional vaccination centers within the jurisdiction of the Margao Municipal Council,” Coutinho lamented.
The Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) points out that it is essential to note that unlike the neighboring Constituencies which roughly have a population of below 40,000 each, the Margao Municipal Council area has a population of nearly 1 lakh, and a single vaccination center. The crowds seen at the Urban Health center are indeed very disturbing and a solution to the same becomes the need of the hour, SCM demands.
SCM Convenor Mr. Coutinho urged the authorities to consider this demand on behalf of the public of the Margao Municipal Council area
While reminding about the Margao Municipal Council premises at Malbhat which is lying idle, SCM demanded that the premises should be taken over immediately for the setting up of an additional vaccination center there.
