Panaji: Goa Forward party President Vijai Sardesai on Friday raised concerned about the “dangerous tourism trend” that Goa is moving towards in the form of gambling, drugs and sex.
In a press statement issued on World Tourism Day, the former State Deputy Chief Minister said that the BJP led government need to step up and formulate a comprehensive tourism policy incorporating all aspects of tourist centric like law and order, transport, health, good accommodation etc.
” Today Goa is in the news only for gambling, drugs and sex. People are openly advertising nude parties! This is a dangerous trend,” Sardesai said.
Sardesai said that Government should immediately reach out to all the stakeholders and chalk out a plan and invite fresh ideas and concepts from the people at large because it’s quite evident the skill sets required to face the challenges of the future is woefully lacking currently.
“As a young political party of this millennium, we are concerned by the archaic and obsolete thinking, consistent policy paralysis and shabby execution that plagues our tourism sector,” he stated.
Sardesai said that it is very unfortunate that because of the gross inefficiency and inadequacy, Goa’s tourism is on a slippery slope and will soon, if not taken immediate steps to course correct, will reach a point of no return.
