Margao: Several hundred people gathered outside the Margao police station, demanding that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar for his statements regarding St. Francis Xavier.
The demonstrators included social activist Pratima Coutinho, Congress leader Moreno Rebello, Savio Coutinho, Sanguem-based leader Meshu D’Costa, and others.
They insisted that the FIR be registered immediately against Velingkar and called for his arrest over his comments about St. Francis Xavier.
Numerous complaints have been filed against Velingkar across the state.
Superintendent of Police (South) Sunita Sawant and SP Santosh Desai attempted to intervene, but the protestors refused to budge.
The agitators later moved to a nearby road and blocked it.
